The Victorian Winter Championships - at senior and junior
levels - are conducted during the winter months, under the auspices of Baseball Victoria. The Championships were previously conducted by the Victorian Provincial Baseball League, whose member associations continue to provide assistance to Baseball Victoria in effective hosting of the events As a rule of thumb, the championships are rotated between provincial centres - and have been for many decades. However, with water restrictions applying across the state, and with burgeoning team numbers at all levels, it is expected that some "rationalisation" of venues becoming available will almost certainly occur. The Victorian Winter Championships offer players at all levels the opportunity to participate in an elite regional competition with a long and distinguished tradition in Victorian baseball. Major sponsor for all 2009 Winter Championships is the Ausport organisation.
